Hegseth Confirmation Clears Path to Make America’s Military Great Again
Priorities for “Pete” to Practice “Peace Through Strength”
WASHINGTON, D.C.— The U.S. Senate confirmed Pete Hegseth last night as America’s next Defense Secretary. While the vote could not have been closer, with Vice President J.D. Vance casting the deciding vote, the fact that someone who has made no secret of his determination to be a change agent at the Pentagon on an unprecedented scale was nothing short of miraculous.
Indeed, this extraordinary achievement is not only a God-thing. It is a testament to Pete’s grit and leadership and the unflinching support he received from the man who appointed him to bring such qualities to bear to Make America’s Military Great Again: President Donald Trump. All of those elements will be more needed than ever for that goal to be achieved, enabling once again the successful practice of “peace through strength,” which was powerfully mandated by the electorate in 2024.
The Save America’s Military Coalition looks forward to working with and otherwise supporting the new Secretary of Defense and his team in accomplishing the following necessary conditions for restoring our armed forces, deterring our enemies, and, if necessary, defeating them in the event deterrence fails:
- Reversing the institutionalization of cultural Marxism in the Pentagon, including the prompt termination of what amounts to political commissars assigned to enforce the “Woke” agenda in the services and civilian Defense Department workforce.
- Replacing general and senior field grade officers promoted by the Obama-Biden administrations to ensure the submission of the uniformed services to such devastatingly divisive Marxist policies.
- Returning to merit as the basis for promotions, not fulfilling quotas or similar, arbitrary decisions based on identity or political considerations.
- Reinvigorating the warrior ethos as the centerpiece of the military culture and an indispensable element in the morale of servicemen and women.
- The preceding initiatives will profoundly improve the prospects for achieving another priority: restoring recruiting.
- Rebooting readiness by comprehensively investing in maintenance, testing, training and operations to enable units and their personnel to achieve the required, peak performance; and
- Rebuilding: our sorely depleted arsenal – including the weapons and delivery systems that constitute our nuclear deterrent; a defense industrial base that has been hollowed out and made dependent upon what are, at best, unreliable foreign supply chains; and the nation’s debilitated power-projection capabilities.
To President Trump, Secretary Hegseth and the men and women of the United States’ armed forces and all those in government, in industry and among the public-at-large who support them, the Save America’s Military Coalition respectfully suggests – and offers to help ensure – that two words describe the next four years: Let’s roll!
